Guatemala se posiciona en Centroamérica con la semana de la moda

Guatemala takes its place in Central America with fashion week

The quintessential platform that has promoted the design and fashion industry in the country since 2014 announced its dates, activities and venues for one of the most important fashion events in the region. This event, already anticipated by all fashion lovers, the industry and the general public both nationally, regionally and internationally, will take place in different places in Guatemala from November 8 to 12, 2022.

Guatemala Fashion Week began nine years ago, in 2014, as a fashion event that burst onto the national scene. During its first years, this effort was accompanied by a very important worldwide brand of vehicles. Over time, and due to changes in the market and strategies, it assumed the name and role it played in the field of national fashion from the beginning: Guatemala Fashion Week is the platform that brings together the guild and becomes an integrator, a space that goes beyond the days of the show to be one where the actors meet, get to know each other, support each other, promote each other, seek to grow together as a community and collaborate, in addition to the exposure it allows them to have both nationally and internationally, and to rub shoulders with designers of international stature.

 A week that highlights fashion

Fashion Week begins on November 8 in Antigua Guatemala, with the Socarrás catwalk Handmade Stories, by Colombian designer Juan Pablo Socarrás.

On November 9, 10 and 11, fashion focuses on Guatemala City. November 9 is the turn of QUO, zone 4.

In this open-air venue you can see the collections: Conexión Espiritual (Spiritual Connection) , by Jaspe by Vitto; Mágicos Relatos de Estilo Quetzal; y Maíz (Quetzal Style Magical Tales; and Maíz, by Victoria Rivera. These designers worked hand in hand with several groups formed by Guatemalan artisans.

Additionally, the Volcana collection is presented by those selected from the call for designers and artisans made at a national level months ago. These catwalks are part of the Handmade Fashion program of the AGEXPORT Handmade Commission.

On November 10, fashion will move to Avia, zone 10. The show will be inaugurated by the catwalks directed by the Academy program, presented by the Istituto Marangoni; a space where students from national design schools take their first steps on international catwalks. The capsule collections will b under the direction of students from Intecap, Universidad Popular, Llatzer and Universidad del Istmo.

The last day of catwalks will be with the winners of “The Fashion Startups”, three catwalks from new brands that make their debut in the national fashion system, they are: Treinta y Cinco, Thian and Katia Monge.
